At eyeZm, we are big supporters of community contributions, and we try to help out with the ZM effort wherever possible. One of our eyeZm users, Chris Henry, has put together two excellent articles on installing ZM 1.24.4, and eyeZm with H264 support, targeted for CentOS.

HTTP-Segmenter updated

Recently, FFMPEG had some updates committed that broke compatibility with HTTP-Segmenter, the application that assists in H264 streaming. We have updated our source code and the eyeZm plugin to detect this compatibility issue and compile accordingly. The latest segmenter source code should now compile with both older and newer FFMPEG versions. No changes to the eyeZm plugin itself have been made, only the segmenter source code.

Incremental update to eyeZm Plugin made

We have made a small incremental update to the eyeZm plugin that resolves an issue where users with an older version of FFMPEG would not have MPEG-4 support detected correctly. The installer and plugin should now detect these older versions.

Filter out archived events

We have received some feature requests to include handling of archived events properly. This feature is coming in the next release, however, in the meantime, an easy patch can be made to the eyeZm plugin to filter out archived events from showing up in eyeZm.

Download the patch from here , copy it to the 'views' directory of the eyeZm plugin (eg. /usr/share/zoneminder/skins/xml/views/), and type 'patch < filtarch.patch'

Please note that this is a temporary patch, and when archived events are handled properly in future eyeZm plugin versions, it will be removed accordingly. Do not apply this patch if you wish to view archived events in eyeZm.

ZoneMinder 1.24.3 Released

Tip: Install PHP-GD for improved performance with eyeZm HD

A helpful tip for users running eyeZm HD on the iPad... to improve the speed at which your event thumbnails are generated, make sure your Apache server has the PHP5-GD module installed. Using Ubuntu, this can easily be done with 'sudo apt-get install php5-gd'

The PHP5-GD modules helps with rescaling of event thumbnails so that they load faster on your mobile device. For those with iPhone/iTouch running eyeZm 1.3, the next release will include event thumbnails, so keep an eye out for more information to come.

Our iPad app has been submitted to the iTunes store to undergo the approval process. We will be releasing a new version of the eyeZm-plugin (p2fs3) shortly, which will be required for the iPad version. Installing the new plugin will not break iPhone/iPod compatibility. More details to follow...

XML Plugin renamed to eyeZm Plugin, bugfix and security updates...

A number of security fixes have been made to the eyeZm plugin to prevent some potential holes from being exploited. These are checked into SVN Trunk (r3306), and will be made as a separate installer package once public testing is complete.

If you are currently sync'd up to ZoneMinder trunk, update your branch and you will have these plugin updates.

Some other significant updates include renaming the XML Plugin to eyeZm plugin, and a bugfix that allows Mocord and Record events to be viewed from eyeZm.

ZoneMinder 1.24.3 Preview Posted

ZoneMinder 1.24.3 integrates the XML Plugin p2fs2, as well as provides an option to configure the XML Interface from the 'Options' panel. Much more convenient than editing the XML parameters manually!

eyeZm v1.3 Now available on iTunes for download!

Version v1.3 has, in a record 2 days, has been approved by iTunes for download. It may take a day or two for iTunes to display the app to your region. The following list of new features have been implemented:

HTTPS Support - use https:// in your server URL to use ZM over SSL
Montage View - can tile up to 6 monitors per page with configurable ordering
Improved multi-tasking support - restoring eyeZm from background will now log you in automatically
Monitor Sorting - Monitors can be sorted by various parameters
Server-list re-ordering
Ability to clear log file to facilitate debugging

Version 1.3 doesn't require any updates to the XML Plugin. Our User-guide documentation has been updated with information on our new features. If you plan on using HTTPS/SSL support with ZM, we highly recommend you read our section on this to update your environment for secured v1.3

The developers have released a special beta-build for customers who have already purchased eyeZm that enables HTTPS support. We have scheduled HTTPS support to be available in the upcoming v1.3, however, since we are aware customers are anxiously awaiting this feature, please email support@eyezm.com if you wish to obtain a beta-build and already own a copy of eyeZm.

Bugfix for non-default event significant digits

A bug has been discovered in the XML Plugin p2fs2 (r3211) where changing the EVENT_IMAGE_DIGITS parameter to anything but 3 results in events not being viewable. Bugfix is checked into ZM SVN (r3215). Pull from SVN if you wish to have this update, or Email Support for a patch.

This fix will be included in the next release of the XML Plugin.
